Sound Piece

Oral Origins is a sound piece constructed by a cacophony of facts, fictions, found audio and recorded sounds that are appropriated from various sources. The piece explores the unfolding narratives and unforeseen consequences of constructing a piece through material accumulation and the scalar relationship between language, image and art. Oral Origins pays attention to the way in which we perceive, communicate and filter information. Combining incomplete or interrupted excerpts of singing, speech, and sounds exploring the tensions between instinctual and unconscious aspects of our relation to language in art.
