Coming Home (trailer)

Video, 2016.

John Betjeman a poet, broadcaster and Victorian architecture saviour, was a child parishioner at St Saviours church in Highbury and Islington. Using this fact as the basis for my residency at the church my work is seeking to explore his influence on the British middle classes on their view of England through his invention of the Shell Guides to English counties dating from the 1930s to the late 1980s.

These guides were extremely popular and also influential through projecting a certain vision of national identity to its readership.
